Welcome to our Chapter site.
I first attended a meeting of the Irish Chapter of the PSA some four or five years ago and I still remember my feeling/emotion at the time.
It was like I had found my spiritual home, let me explain. For 20 years I had been a member of Toastmasters and a licensed coach with an International Training Organisation alongside running my own engineering business. However, secretly I always dreamed of being a speaker and speakers’ coach, using my ideas and experience to help people live better and more fulfilled lives.
After attending two or three chapter meetings I realised that the PSA could help me turn my dream into a reality, which it has. I am now a full time speaker and speakers’ coach fully employed doing the thing I love doing more than anything else. It is not work, it is sheer enjoyment and I also get paid well for doing what I enjoy.
If you, like me, harbour a vision to earn more from speaking, I would like to extend an invitation to you to become actively involved in the Irish Chapter.
The theme for Mark LaBlanc’s year as President of the National Speakers Association of America is NSA Rocks and that reminded me of a speech I delivered some ten years ago entitled ‘The last of the Rock & Roll Kids’.
With the above in mind my theme for this year will be ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’
Shake up the market in Ireland for paid speakers and make it easy for people who book speakers for events to be able to find and book our members.
Rattle the cages of the people (bureaus, event planners, conference organisers etc.) who book speakers, making them aware of our members and the advantages of booking a professional speaker as opposed to a celebrity.
Roll out a bright, exciting and profitable future for all of our members in 2008.
Do you only think of the PSA as an add on to your business? If so you are missing out. I and others have made it an integral part of our Business Strategy and it has delivered a huge return on our investment.
The challenge for all members of PSA Ireland this year is to put professional speaking on the map in Ireland and also to generate opportunities to speak internationally. A good business must have a market, competency and passion. The PSA can help you develop and deliver all three.
I look forward to meeting you at our events during the year (dates attached)
